My name is Frithjof Herb, but I go by Fritz.
I am a PhD student exploring topics at the intersection of data science, health, and environment. I currently apply my background in mathematics and chemistry, focusing on addressing challenges related to analysis of data relating to nano-medicines and microplastic lifecycles.
During my undergraduate chemistry studies, I worked on a project relating to nanoscale drug delivery systems, which was disrupted by COVID-19. This created an unexpected opportunity for me to join a collaborative project between the University of Newcastle and The Sail and Explore Association, which led to valuable research highlighting a likely under-representation of true microplastic counts using current methods. This experience gave me a passion for environmental research, which I continued to nurture, and I currently interact with this field by exploring methods for automating the analysis of environmental microplastic samples through an PhD project.
I am fluent in English and German with extensive international experience from studying in and traveling across multiple countries. This allows me to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, and from those diverse audiences I welcome questions, connections, and discourse on all things AI, Chemistry, Environment, and beyond.
